The afternoon heat is tiring me
The only shade is under this tree
‘Till suddenly a strong wind blows
The heat is beaten, away it goes
But sometimes when it lasts too long
The meltemi’s wind can be strong
Increasing waves, the seaman’s fear
From time to time it’s hard to steer
The meltemi is everywhere
Where ever you go, it’s always there
‘Though sometimes I’d like it to go away
Mostly I prefer it here to stay
Everyone knows the meltemi’s force
The power from Poseidon’s source
Cries at night, disturbes your sleep
Makes it hard your peace to keep
Despite of the afternoon heat
It tidies up, it cleans the street
The meltemi refreshes your mind
Leaving all your doubts behind
The meltemi is everywhere
